Best BBQ in Jay

We love this bbq! Huge, massive portions. One of my top 3 baked beans of all time are served here. Staff is friendly and so pleasant—it was nice to sit down inside and eat. The area doesn’t have many options so we feel so lucky to have a place as good as Backwoods to go to! Again, I cannot speak to the value of their meals enough—my meals was at least three meals worth of food, so a legit bargain. We all took home boxes of food. Pulled pork is my favorite here but my family loved the ribs the most. Take the time to go in and eat—it’s worth it!

I had a fantastic experience here today. The hospitality was truly next-level: Multiple people went out of their way to help me. One gentleman held the doors while I struggled with a car seat, a kind woman helped me carry my food out, and another man checked in to see if I needed help with my car door. Absolutely delicious. The chicken was incredibly tender and literally falling apart. However, the beans were the absolute star of the show—definitely my favorite! I’m sad to see some rude comments. Definitely don’t pay attention to those reviews! Such a sweet, welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back! ❤️

The service was personal. The food was delicious. We got the 3 meat combo Which was ribs, pulled chicken and pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw and corn bread. They had sold out of brisket but it didn’t matter. Everything was excellent. We had been shopping and while Dave was putting groceries in the truck I noticed there signs. If you’re looking for ambiance this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for really good food at a fair price then you are home.

I got 2 pulled pork sliders and a 16 Oz beer for SIX DOLLARS. My boyfriend got the 4 meat sample platter and it was enough food for 4 seperate people! Everything was delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!

This place has gotten so good! Food was great and the service was even better .. if that’s possible. My new favorite spot in town! Don’t get fast food when you can get 3 meals from one of their dinners. I already got full and this is what’s left …now my giant at home can eat too .. lol
